The Bible is made up of many thousands of words. Not all words are equal in terms of the significance to the truth that they convey. For example there are hundreds of words that are used only one time to describe a person, place or thing. Yet there are a few dozen words in the NT that have been at the heart of heated debates by committed Christians and the best scholars for centuries. There are cults that take biblical words that many people have heard before but pack their subtle deceptions into the ways that the define the terms.

Bring to your attention to the relatively small number of words that are worthy of study and teaching. If you are a pastor or teacher then you can serve the people well by giving them a BRIEF lesson on these terms.

You do not need to take a complete course on Hebrew or Greek to get the basic understanding of these terms. Note that the original list was taken from a study Bible that had a one-paragraph side bar in the midst of the text.

The numbers after each critical word refers to the Strong’s numbers that are found in the back of the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance as well as many places online. Just put the two words Strong’s numbers STRONGS and NUMBERS into a search engine like Google www.google.com .
